BF6 Gamers Concur: Missions Are Overly Demanding

The launch of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, notably for its flagship multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, in spite of its success, a growing number of players are expressing frustration over a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.

Players have started turning to tailored sessions created through the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how arduous these assignments have become.

Grasping BF6 Tasks

Assignments are Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, in contrast to the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. It features four types of assignments, but although many merely grant outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the only way of obtaining 12 of the 41 primary weapons available in the game.

A number of these restricted firearms might eventually find their way on lists of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Over on Reddit, players are reasonably voicing their concerns about how hard and tedious some of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most extreme examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This task is so awful and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many advantages in battle as it did in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

At the same time, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and functions solely at extremely close range, which is seldom the location you want to be. That player also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that challenge would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge

A different forum member pointed out an additional excessively hard challenge, now in the sniper rifle category to obtain the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with sniper rifles

This is challenging enough on its own, but there's another important point to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but because there are just nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and perhaps a classic map in a best-case scenario if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.

The Alternative Method

However, there is a solution: the portal. This portal feature is a tool that allows you to design tailored experiences on whatever map you choose, including AI opponents. This means you can bypass the intended method… but it isn't truly in line with the developer's vision.

But when completing the missions in a normal session appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an atypical style that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for completing them in a custom game so allies are not impaired?

Future Adjustments

It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are toned down in the coming days or weeks, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply won't get their hands on the restricted guns.

At the moment, the audience continues to voice their opinions on these strenuous battlefield assignments, hoping for a fairer overall gameplay in subsequent patches.
