Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Debuts, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.

Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the outer limits of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.

A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Iconic Releases

Similar to the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some familiar faces, including the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.

But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Come Back and Grow

The movie will see the return of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

A Significant Period for Mario

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive close to the four-decade milestone of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a important time for Mario and his companions.

The company has three new games publicly declared for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
