Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle Fans Are Hoping For

It was previously announced that The Simpsons was teaming up with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole place where enthusiasts can experience the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is also making its way to Rocket League, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. That said, if gamers will truly desire to use it is another question, as fans have their hearts set on just one Springfield car the community is eager to get behind the wheel of, and this new offering isn't that one.

The Dream Vehicle

Although most players would undoubtedly love to compete while driving The Homer—the famously flawed automobile the patriarch built personally in the 1991 installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what's being offered. We aren't even getting the Canyonero, the heavy-duty vehicle featured in season 10. Instead, fans will obtain the family's standard well-worn sedan, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Though this specific vehicle has seen better days, it stands as an iconic symbol of the show. For those who analyze Rocket League vehicle dimensions, the trusty sedan uses the identical collision model as the Dominus.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

And it's not the only cosmetic from the show arriving in Rocket League. This limited-time event will additionally feature a series of challenges to unlock additional goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. According to a press release, the missions will task participants to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, collect boost pickups as if your navigation is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and travel a specific distance worthy of picking up the ideal pastries!"

Although the complete list of challenge rewards isn't yet disclosed, here is what has been confirmed so far:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

Based on promotional images is any indication, it appears players will also get rims featuring a TV displaying The Simpsons' opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.
