The DCU Series Second Season Last Episode to Fix Significant Viewer Grievance, Showrunner Gunn Announces

While audience feedback for Peacemaker season 2 has been largely positive, with viewers and reviewers applauding the performances and storyline—even if the big twist in the seventh installment wasn't exactly a shock—one critique has only grown stronger throughout the season: decreasing runtime lengths.

Over the past few episodes, viewers have voiced frustration over the significantly reduced runtimes this season, and indeed, the episodes have been progressively briefer. The seventh episode, titled “Like a Keith in the Night,” ran just 28 minutes (excluding the recap, opening credits, and end credits), making it the shortest episode so far.

Fans will be pleased to learn next week's episode is over 57 minutes long.

Peacemaker showrunner and DCU boss James Gunn posted on Threads, responding to a disappointed fan.

Although this is encouraging, it's unknown exactly how much of the runtime will be actual new footage, free from intro and outro segments, or recaps of previous events. That said, even if the finale contains all the aforementioned filler, that still leaves roughly three-quarters of an hour for the finale, which is a big upgrade following the previous installment.

Gunn previously teased that the finale would not only wrap up Peacemaker but also give a hint towards the direction the broader DC Universe at large will be moving and serve as a prequel of sorts for the upcoming Man of Tomorrow film. Given the brief appearance of the actor's portrayal of Lex Luthor from the sixth installment, many are anticipating a juicy cameo to conclude the show.

Peacemaker's finale, the eighth episode, is titled "The Full Nelson," and audiences must wait to find out if fans' suspicions are confirmed.
